Golden Jubilee of the Apostolic School, Samtoli

Apostolic School, Samtoli The Golden Jubilee of St. John Berchmans' Apostolic School, Samtoli celebrated its golden jubilee on 20 October 2019 at its premise starting with a Holy Eucharist officiated by his Lordship Vincent Barwa, DD, flanked by the first batch of students, namely, Fr. Emmanuel Barla, SJ, Principal, St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi, Fr. Aquinas Kerketta, Roserian (Ambikapur), Fr. Fulgence Kullu (Simdega Diocese) and Fr. Ajit Saras, SJ, Director of the Apostolic School and Fr. Provincial Joseph Marianus Kujur, SJ, cum Fr. Linus Dungdung, SJ, Rector, St, mary's HS, Samtoli. Fr. Sikander Kerketta, SJ, was the MC of the ceremony.
The Apostolic students welcomed all the guests whoever entered the premises with theirs claps; St. mary's hostel girls managed by the SJT Sisters led the entrance dance, children of St. Mary's English Medium School the Bible procession dance and the Samtoli Apostolics led the choir trained by the Manresa Scholastics.
His Lordship in his homily pointed out the fact that the Apostolic School was started with an aim of keeping alive the vocation to priesthood in Chotanagpur and that has been fulfilled today with so many priests available. Apostolic School sends out a call to prepare oneself for priesthood from the early age, however, the final choice is made after passing the intermediate examinations.
There were some 50 priests who con-celebrated, some 70 Religious Sisters, Students the Minor Seminary, Ranchi, Apostolics of Gumla and Kunkuri, and the parents as well as the local faithful present, all who formed a sizable number of 1200 participating.
Well prepared cultural items were shown to the delight of those present.
